FAQ - The animals

FAQ

Yes, the animals come out - even in the rain. However, you may find that they are not as active, and that they seek shelter under trees etc. if it rains a lot.

No, you may risk experiencing fewer of the animal species you dream of seeing. Here in the park, it's the animals that set the pace. We try to make the conditions as natural for the animals as possible, and it's quite natural that the animals sometimes choose to withdraw to get some peace and quiet. In case of severe weather, during periods of low temperatures, in case of illness in the herds or other acute situations, it may happen that some animals are not out in the large area. The absence of a particular animal does not entitle to a discount on entrance or stay.

It is strictly forbidden to feed the animals anywhere in the park. The animals are on a diet that is adapted to them, and they can get very sick if they are fed differently. Donkeys, goats and Shetland ponies can be petted and cuddled. In other areas, it is forbidden to get out of the car and touch the animals. There is clear signage at these areas, which we ask you to follow. These areas are also marked on the map provided.

On our animal page, you will find an overview of all the park's animals. Here you can click on each animal and find exciting facts, characteristics of the species, and see nice pictures of Knuthenborg's herds. Immerse yourself in the animal pages here.
