Rescue animals and Animal Welfare
In collaboration with Dyrenes Beskyttelse (Danish animal protection organisation), we commit to prioritizing animal welfare. In Europe, wild animals in circuses, animal testing, and the trade of wild animals are banned in many places.
The animals that are left over after these bans can neither be released into the wild nor be part of breeding programs. Therefore, in collaboration with Dyrenes Beskyttelse, we have provided a new home in Knuthenborg for retired circus animals, and continue the work by accepting more rescue animals on an ongoing basis.
The story of evolutionary history through groundbreaking research and technology
Knuthenborg's Evolution Museum is highly active in research within paleontology, focusing on dinosaurs and biodiversity. We have Professor Mark Loewen from the Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Utah, permanently attached to the museum. Many of our fossils are world-famous due to their quality and scientific significance. Researchers from many countries are involved in the work.
International breeding cooperation to protect endangered species
A large part of the park's animals are part of the international breeding cooperation under EAZA. This means that we exchange animals with other zoological gardens throughout Europe, so that together we have a better foundation for saving endangered species from extinction, and ultimately reintroducing these species into their natural habitat.

We do a lot to ensure that the animals live a natural life, which is why it is important that our predators, including lions, tigers, and wolves, receive whole pieces of meat, so they have a natural eating experience.
Therefore, we gladly accept living horses that are no longer thriving and the time has come for the last goodbye.
