A welcoming committee with heat-dissipating ears

1. The domestic donkey descends from the African wild ass, which today only exists in a few places in Northeast Africa, and is among the rarest mammals on Earth.

2. The donkey is in the same family as horses and zebras

3. It is estimated that the first donkeys were domesticated around 10,000-12,000 years ago.

4. On hot days, donkeys cool themselves down by releasing heat through their long ears.
