Sika deer

A fully grown 5-year-old

1. Sika deer originate from Asia, but were introduced to Denmark back in the 20th century.

2. The male deer (stag) grows until it is 7-10 years old, while the female deer (hind) only grows until she is 4-6 years old.

3. Deer are shy animals. They can be active during the day, but if there is too much disturbance (e.g., humans), they become nocturnal instead.

4. The population in Denmark is estimated to be around 600 animals distributed in northeastern Jutland and southwestern Zealand.
